The Cross Hands

1 Staple Hill Rd, Fishponds, Bristol BS16 5AA, UK – 0117 965 7759

To be honest when steak turned up was a bit underwhelmed due to not having all the usual trimmimings. I.e mushrooms, onion rings. etc!! but as soon as we tucked in it had to be one of the best steak and chips we have had in a long time. So if that's what your after,a good steak and pint then give it a try. Sure you won't be disappointed.

Nice pub with extremely polite staff, good selection of drinks and snacks.

Old Plough

Westons Way, Kingswood, Bristol BS15 9RR, UK – 0117 935 2885

I visited the Old Plough on the occasion of my sister in-laws birthday. The food laid on for 76 guest's was exceptionally good for a buffet. There was live music and the bar had a good selection of beer

Food is great, drinks are good. Definitely the sort of place to go for lunch and maybe even a pint.

The Hollybush Pub

29 Bath Rd, Bridgeyate, Bristol BS30 5JP, UK – 0117 239 5879

The menu was limited but very good quality and apart from battered fish and chips, not boring pub grub. A good selection of craft beers and an impressive wine list. I had black pudding scotch egg with onion jam followed by venison spaghetti bolognese. Service was excellent. Recommended.

We've had splendid meals here, but yesterday was a disappointment. Despite being half empty it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. (We heard the chef from the open kitchen say after a while, "Nothing's been done on this ticket!" then mention our order.) No one spoke to us during this long wait. When the food arrived, elements were missing, but no one came back to ask if our food was OK. We saw staff chatting to each other, but couldn't get their attention. The ribs were very poor, more tendon than bone, a gelatinous horror left after struggling to pick off the meat, making for a very unpleasant eat. All the staff, when they did speak to us, were very friendly and polite. We mentioned the issues and were offered free desserts, but it was already so late after the wait we had to get our 2yo home to bed. It was a shame, as we've always enjoyed the Hollybush before.

Everyday Thai Restaurant

11 New Station Rd, Bristol BS16 3RP, UK – 0117 965 7007

For such an outstanding Thai restaurant this has to have one of the worst names of all time. No good restaurant should have the name of what they're selling in the title!?! Anyway rant over. Note: This review is coming from someone who typical strongly dislikes Thai food. After seeing this as being the best rated restaurant in the WHOLE OF BRISTOL on Trip Advisor I decided to give it a go. I must say... I was not disappointed. The food was so tasty I'm actually salivating all over myself while writing this review. Luckily I have the water-resistant IPhone πŸ’¦πŸ“± πŸ™Œ I think what makes this place so good is its authenticity. They're not trying to do something to please the "English" taste. There's no "curry sauce" on fish and chips. They're just making what they do best, and the result is amazing. The restaurant is however very small and it's difficult to get a table. It would be good if they expanded somehow. πŸ™†πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Great restaurant. Very polite, and friendly staff. The food was excellent, well prepared and presented. I attended as part of a large group (last night), and the staff helped us to chose a selection of food that was the right quantity, had a good selection of dishes, and was also very reasonably priced. The lack of alcohol was a pleasant change, and the alternative drinks selection was good.

Nazar Restaurant

599 Fishponds Rd, Bristol BS16 3AA, UK – 0117 378 9379

Food was OK but most of it was cold in the middle. However, the atmosphere was top class and the service typically turkish - flirtish and slow. Good place for a party and remember they only take cash.

Nice people. Good food. Well presentation. I'm sure come back again.

Pizza Hut Restaurant

6, Aspects Leisure Park, Leisure Rd, Bristol BS15 9LA, UK – 0117 967 5316

Place has changed decor and we were looking forward to eating there. Service was a bit slow however and the salad bar had no lettuce or cucumber. So not a great selection. Sauces on the table were nearly empty so selection wasn't great there either. All in all disappointed. The pizza was still good though just need to tidy up on the other things.

Good pizza and lots of options. Decent staff. Could be sharper inside and keep cleaner during peak eating times

Chinese Restaurants serving the Hanham area

Beijing Chinese & Thai Takeaway

Nags Head Hill, Bristol BS5 8QP, UK – 0117 967 6246

Excellent food, definitely best in the area. Good prices and good portion size. Bit of a wait at peak times but worth it.

Quite simply our addictive goto quick food fix. Especially the Thai food, easily fill two hungry people for Β£13 (curry+dish). But having said that, every single meal we've had has been absolutely delicious. Seriously, just buy some now...

Jade Garden

113 Bell Hill Rd, Bristol BS5 7LY, UK – 0117 967 1105

Absolutely my favourite Chinese, staff lovely and the food is amazing!

Great food honestly couldn't complain other than grumpy staff

Good Taste

Wyatts View, St Annes, Bristol, St Annes Park BS4 4WW, UK – 0117 971 7170

Great food (love sweet & sour chicken balls and egg fried rice) and great delivery service. Really friendly.

Always a clean place, not greasy like other take away places. Staff are very friendly and happy to customise dishes. Duck pancakes are great, as as the prawn toasts.

Indian Restaurants and takeaways in or near Hanham

Radhuni Indian Takeaway

48 Staple Hill Rd, Bristol BS16 5BS, UK – 0117 965 3334

The place is nice, personally I'm not big into curry's but had a good korma there.

Have been eating from here for several years. Food is always on time and still hot tastes delicious staff are polite lovely place highly recommend

Spice Indian Takeaway

87 Broomhill Rd, Bristol BS4 4SB, UK – 0117 933 2828

Good takaway. Never had a bad meal from here.

Excellent food and the staff are really friendly

Goa Classic | order online

13 Brislington Hill, City Centre, Bristol BS4 5BE, UK – 0117 977 0071

5 star quality food but bear in mind this is NOT a restaurant! It's good Indian food cooked to order and take away. Delivery is also possible most of the time. The shop itself is large, airy and well decorated. There are newspapers to read or a small TV to watch whilst waiting for your food. Altogether a very pleasant experience. Lovely staff too. The food is excellent and the prices are competitive. I've tried a number of meals as have my friends. The consensus is that the Goa Classic is a little gem nestling among a disparate collection of shops on the hill in Brislington.

Great as always. Veggie dishes excellent and loaded with a good variety of veg in the currys. Best local takeaway curry I've ever had anywhere. Highly recommended ☺️

Italian Pasta and Pizza Restaurants

The Italian Kitchen

47 High St, Bristol BS15 3DQ, UK – 0117 961 4222

We visited the Italian kitchen for my bosses retirement meal, wow what a place, meal was great nice and hot and plenty to eat. This place was full, and we had a party of 20. And they catered for us, the staff was really good and friendly too. The price of The meal was very good. The location for this place you can't miss it, is right in the high street. Will visit this place again.

In the heart of Hanham. This Italian restaurant is a delight. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The food is delious and presented well. Recommended.

Frankie & Bennys

Aspects Leisure Park, Longwell Green, Bristol BS15 9LA, UK – 0117 947 4680

Great place to meet with friends/family in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Really reasonably priced and filling portions! Have been here for a few evening cocktails with friends, which are fabulous! Really love to go here for breakfast too, and the refillable teas make this even better value!

Nicely decorated restaurants in the Frankie & Benny's chain based, I'm guessing on a 50's American diner. Very friendly staff and full, nicely cooked menu including breakfast. Only four stars as the down side for F&B is that the meals aren't cheap. Breakfast's are only Β£6 but by the time you add for toast, tea or coffee and maybe an extra you're looking at over a tenner for brekkie. It must be said that hot beverages are refillable though.

La Piazza 1

777 Fishponds Rd, Bristol BS16 3BS, UK – 0117 965 0111

Family friendly, great food, lovely staff. Standard Italian nicely prepared and quickly delivered. Never left here hungry.

The staff were fantastic, really lovely and friendly. Classic Italian food very well done. Will definitely be a regular.

La Passione

34A Regent St, Kingswood, Bristol BS15 8JS, UK – 0117 904 1219

Great food! Superb service and friendly staff! But there is always a but! Decorations in the restaurant I mean fake flowers in widows. Apart from that it's still 5 stars!

This is our go to "Italian" restaurant as it's just up the road from us. Staff are welcoming, and the food is generally, really nice. It can be a busy little place and the layout is a bit canteen like but the atmosphere is normally good and the portions generous.

Wine Bars and Cocktail Bars

The Queens Head Hanham

29 Lower Hanham Rd, Bristol BS15 8QP, UK – 0117 935 3579

Nice place.. lovely staff but under staffed on this visit..great atmosphere and lovely punters ..don't think the landlord was ready for all the punters ..not enough change in the tills and drinks were running out quite early into the night however would go there again

Great food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere!!!

Chiquito

Unit 10, Aspects Leisure Park, Longwell Green, Bristol BS15 9LA, UK – 0117 958 2010

Nice Mexican food. Happy hours available. Opposite to Vue cinema which makes relaxed environment. Good ambience. Price may be slightly expensive.

It was a nice place. Waiting staff were friendly and efficient. The place was clean and tidy. Shame they don't do refillable drinks. We ordered from the set monday-friday menu. The food was very nice. My husband had southern fried chicken for his starter - which were overdone, but they didn't taste too bad. I had the nachos and they were amazing! For the main we had enchiladas. They were of a good size, but we did order a portion of fries to share as they didn't come with any on the main. Over all the food was nice, atmosphere was great, BUT I wouldn't go there often.

Porto Lounge

765 Fishponds Rd, Bristol BS16 3BS, UK – 0117 902 4567

Better than some of the other Lounge bars, mostly because of the staff who are friendly and efficient. You can mostly hear yourself speak too which is a bonus. Food delivered pretty quickly and was good.

I have been going to Porto Lounge for years and have always had a lovely time, great food and cheerful service. They have a good range of vegan or gluten free dishes listed on a separate menu (along with potential amendments to other dishes) which makes choosing much easier. The staff are always very helpful, last time I was there I ordered one of the specials that was listed as vegan but did did not show up as that when entered in the till, so they made sure to go check with the kitchen staff which was very highly appreciated! I would recommend the vegan breakfast, the avocado brunch and hopefully the vegan risotto if they made it permanent.
